COMPOSTABLE PRODUCTS

Tote-All Purpose Bags

Say good bye to bulky, dirty reusable bags that seem to multiply in our cupboards. These certified compostable tote-all bags are better! Strong, manufactured on a roll to easily take with you anywhere making your checkout process as efficient as possible. They come in rolls of 5 bags and are easy to carry with you no matter where you’re going. So much better than those bulky reusable bags we seem to always forget. Not to mention they don’t come with the germs and bacteria reusable bags do either. The best part is you can use them for anything. Collect your food scraps at home in your small kitchen collectors, they have amazing easy to tie closed handles.

Take them with you into any store, keep them in your purse or pocket and you always have a bag ready to go. Sell them at your cashiers so your customers always have something cost effective, and eco-friendly to take their goods home, in addition they are buying much needed trash bags for your food scraps at home.

Even most reusable bags that you buy from the stores are made from plastic and often will not hold up to a washing machine. Our compost safe Tote-all bags have zero-plastic in them and are made from plant starch. And they have multiple uses as well.

Products can be customized with your own roll designs and printing.

Our Tote-All bags are BPI certified for industrial facilities and OK Home Compost certified for home compost are safe for composting programs in Canada, the United States and Europe.  These bags breakdown within 45 days and are a proven eco-friendly solution in the research and testing that has taken place throughout the world.

Colours:

They come in 1 resin colour, a neutral light beige that allows all our printing to stand out nicely and supports any brand.

Shelf Life:

These bags have a 12-month shelf life. This is an important validator to their ability to breakdown. They are not meant to last forever. So we work closely with you to ensure you have the right number of bags you need at their best quality.

Strength:

They are more reliable than most traditional bag options since they come from a different source material giving them more elasticity. Our standard-sized bags typically have no problems holding between 14 to 20lbs.

Certified Compostable:

So what does it mean exactly to be certified compostable? It means our bags have been tested and certified by BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) which is an external organization that verifies that our products meet their requirements and are true to what we say.  This is the regulatory body that completes rigorous testing on our products and others to ensure they are safe to be used in composting and will not add any harmful chemicals to the natural process.

Not all products are equal and without a certification, products are not verified to be safe for compost facilities or your backyard compost.

Our stock tote-all bag comes in the neutral bag colour mentioned in the product overview and is on rolls of 5 so you can easily take it with you anywhere and then use at home to collect food scraps in your small compost bins. It carries an educational component to help support composting efforts regardless of where they are used and to also make it very clear these bags are safe to compost.

They are made from natural renewable resources, in our case they are corn-based. And since they are made from organic material themselves, they respond the same way organic material responds in the decomposition process.

Just like your typical organic waste, decomposition is taken care of by bacteria that break the bag down and essentially eats it for their own food source. What is left behind is waste the bacteria expels which is often the nutrients that can not be consumed by the bacteria. This nutrient-rich by-product is what has been used as healthy soil additives for ages.

In fact, there is evidence composting practices were used over 10,000 years ago in different parts of the world. There is even evidence of composting methods being used by King Sargon during the Akkadian Dynasty, which lasted about 160 years between 2320 BC and 2120 BC. So composting is not a new concept. We are just getting smart and going back to some effective proven natural methods of enhancing our soil nutrients and dealing with waste.

Because our products are made from organic material or bioplastics, they too breakdown just like organic waste does when exposed to the same conditions. Bacteria is key to the fast breakdown of any organic material and are essential for our products as well. But when placed in a composting facility or combined with home composting, they typically break down within 8-16 weeks depending on how much bacteria is present, moisture and temperature. The decomposition of our products can even happen between 6-10 weeks when the conditions are ideal and there are other organic materials present with the products.

But the number 1 thing to remember is when they do breakdown, they leave nothing harmful behind. No microplastics are leached into the environment like other bags that claim to be eco-friendly such as biodegradable and oxo-degradable bags. That is why compostable products are revolutionary in our fight against harmful plastics but yet allow us to still have the convenience we have come to enjoy in our everyday life.
