Perfect! These honestly exceeded my expectations. I haven’t found other compostable zips to be as strong as these & having them in the small size keeps me from producing more waste in the quest to reduce waste.

  2. MF

Very small little bags – handy for freezing things like sliced bananas. I was supposed to receive 2 boxes but only received 1 box but was able to get a refund. I don’t think I’ll buy these again as they are very small.

  3. Aramis

5.0 out of 5 stars Ordered for my garden, proved invaluable after the holidays! e have a large garden and throughout the season and in particular at the end of season, I end up making a lot of trips back and forth between my beds and the compost pile. I’m disabled so that’s an issue. I ordered these bags for when I work in the garden, thinking they would be perfect for me to fill and toss, rather than having to trek back and forth with loads.

When the bags arrived I was happy to discover how strong they are. I use small similar bags for my kitchen composting but they seem lighter than these. These bags are fully compostable but stronger and don’t rip or stab through easily. They’re quite large and I think they’ll work perfectly for what I intended.

I didn’t plan on using them in the house but thanks to Christmas and family visiting from out of town, we ended up with a lot of compost over the holidays and since these bags were here, I decided to give them a go. I’m so happy I did. They hold a LOT and the strength is evident. The tie is perfect not only for sealing the bags but for carrying them out to the pile. I absolutely love these bags.

I’m giving them 5 stars and can’t recommend them highly enough. They’re more expensive than your small typical kitchen compostable bags but these have their sights set on larger jobs and they won’t disappoint.

Like most areas in Ontario, Canada, we have to divide our garbage into 4 different groups. These are garbage, blue box recyclables, yard waste (brown bag), and green box or compostable kitchen waste. We have a special container under our sink where we put compostable materials and line it with green compostable bags.

We are always needing more bags and I saw these. I was intrigued by the idea of having a drawstring on these bags since normally I just try to tie a knot in the bag which can be difficult.

The bags arrived with 2 boxes packaged together with 12 bags each for a total of 24 bags. The boxes have an area that can be removed so you can take out one bag at a time like a tissue box. They appear to be rolled up inside the box and removed easily.

The bags are a perfect size for our under-sink compost container and they do indeed have a drawstring made out of the same material as the bag. I did not see the drawstring initially as I was looking for a “string” but it is there in the hem on the top of the bag.

These bags feel thicker than the ones we have used in the past.

They claim they will begin to break down in about 5 days when exposed to food waste which is very good for our planet.

The bags work out to about $1 per bag which is reasonable. We will be using one bag per week.
I do recommend these as they are strong compost bags that close up nicely and will break down quickly once they are in the compost heap.

  5. Another Bored Consumer

Good bags! These are great compost safe garbage bags, they are fairly large and strong. There is quite a bit of a stretch and won’t rip until a decent amount of pressure is pointed at the bag.

The tie straps are good to have bubt unfortunately, due to the slightly stretchy material of the bag, I am not able to fully stretch and tie up the bag.

Eco-Friendly and Convenient Waste Disposal Solution. The Trash Bags have transformed my approach to waste management, offering an eco-conscious and convenient solution for disposing of kitchen and yard waste while minimizing environmental impact.

The standout feature of these trash bags is their certification as 100% compostable and eco-friendly. As an environmentally-conscious consumer, I appreciate that these bags are certified compost-safe, allowing me to dispose of organic waste responsibly. They are designed to break down naturally in composting environments, reducing landfill waste and contributing to sustainable waste disposal practices.

The size of these bags, 49L / 13 Gallons, is well-suited for various household needs, fitting most standard-sized waste bins. The inclusion of drawstring handles enhances convenience, allowing for easy tying and lifting when the bag is full, preventing spills or messes.

Moreover, the durability of these compostable bags is impressive. Despite being eco-friendly, they maintain robustness and reliability, effectively holding waste without compromising on strength or functionality.

  7. em

Check sizing & logos for acceptance in your green bin/compost collection. These bags are 24” wide by 27” long but bins in my city are a bit taller so they don’t sit in the can perfectly but we just rolled up the top and unrolled it as we added stuff. We do have weekly pickup but since they are fast composting, they may not be suitable if my city moves to pickup every second week which they have been discussing.

Make sure the logos are ones accepted by your compost/green bin pickup. These do have one of the logos accepted in my city but several European logos too. The collector didn’t even seem to look at the liner at pickup but some areas can be fussy.

The bags themselves are great, decent quality with a drawstring. But they are pretty expensive. We usually use WM bags which are also 49L but 30” tall and only $7 for 10 bags. These are a little thicker feeling if your green bin tends to be heavier etc but at over 30c less per bag, a bit expensive for us.

  8. CH

Very big size and good quality. 12 bag in a box, Good for my gardening trash collected. 100% Certified Compost Safe Garbage Bag – Kitchen & Yard Waste Green Bin Liners – 49L / 13 Gallons – Drawstring Handles for Easy Use

  9. EW

Great quality bags. These bags are great quality. They are much thicker than the generic bags you buy which is wonderful because you don’t have to worry about it ripping. The biggest issue I see with this has more to do with the size of the bags. It is larger than most compost bags, much larger. There’s a reason that compost bags and bins are smaller, because smell and rotting happens fast. So unless you do a lot of cooking – are a chef – r have a compost garden or regularly do fridge clean ups, the size of the bag seems a bit wasteful as leaving this in the house until it fills up will welcome many surprises when you finally go out to throw it. For that reason, I took off one star. I wouldn’t recommend this for everyday use, but if you need something for a heavy duty composting job, this is great.

  10. Garcia

Great bag. These bags are great, I really like them. They are 100 % compostable and can be used in the kitchen and/or yard.

The bags have a good size 24*27”/49 litres. I use them to dispose yard garbage and have no problem with rain ripping the bag out.

They are very resistant and they have drawstring making ease to tie and carry them.

  11. Tanzanite Toolkit

Pricey but good. Very nice compostable trash bags. Good quality and the drawstring is handy. Tho the price is pretty expensive I think, but if you need a compostable bag this is the ticket.

  12. Angel

Excellent all purpose yard waste and green bin bags that are compostable! My city has mandated that all yard waste and green bins use only compostable bags now. These are great for raked leaves in the fall, or kitchen waste that can go into the green bin all year round. The compostable bags are large and strong, and I love the drawstring handles which make it much easier to tie up the top of the bag. The listing states that having food or warmth inside the bags will cause the bags to start to decompose in five days, and at first I was worried that the bag would become too thin and rip before the city came to collect the yard waste and green bins weekly. However, so far the bags have held up fine, and I haven’t had any issues with them tearing, even after a week.

  13. Badblocks

Eco-Friendly and Handy, Price is for Two Packs. These compostable garbage bags are quite durable. Despite being eco-friendly, they don’t compromise on strength. The drawstrings on these bags make closing and carrying the bags quite convenient.

One thing worth mentioning is that price is for two packs, each containing 12 bags. It was a bit confusing as the title didn’t clearly specify that it comes in a pack of two boxes.

  14. Books All Around

Good for large amounts of kitchen compost or small amounts of yard compost. These compostable bags are quite thick as compost bags go. This makes them more durable than the typical kitchen compost bags I’m using now. This sounds like a good thing, but my current thinner bags are working just fine without breaking, so I don’t need thicker bags for kitchen compost—ergo, overkill and no benefit to me there; not worth paying extra for. The extra strength is great for yard waste, though, where the contents will do more poking. The drawstring handles are nice feature for yard use, too. While I’m sure these are the right size for some people, they aren’t a useful size for the volume of compost I generate. They’re way too large for my typical 8L lidded kitchen compost bin, and too small for yard waste and tall compost bins. Aside from the size thing, these bags worked well. They held compost well. I experienced no tearing or breeching. So, I’d recommend these bags if you need a strong bag and the size works for your bin sizes and compost volume.

  15. Positive Vibes

Surprisingly tough! I’ve been using the Refresh Packaging All Purpose Trash Bags, and I must say, they’re unexpectedly durable. When you fully open the bag, it’s see-through, but I haven’t encountered any issues with tearing. The bags are a good size and arrived neatly packed in two printed cardboard boxes.

The ties at the top of the bags are fantastic for securely sealing the garbage bag, and surprisingly, they are quite strong. Due to the size of these bags, I don’t find myself using them as frequently, as the garbage tends to develop an odor before reaching full capacity. However, they are an excellent product to have at home, especially during parties or if you have a garden to maintain.

  16. Mirn

Good quality and design. Bags are pretty strong and durable, and they’re a good size for the price. You don’t get a lot in a box so they had to make up for it somewhere, and the size definitely does. The only problem is that if you want to fully fill it out, it might stink up quite a bit before that happens. I don’t keep my bin out in the open in the kitchen though so I’m not worried about it. I’m able to put stuff that are slightly sharper and pokier into these bags compared to my old ones. Something else to mention is that these bags have drawstrings which makes them easier to tie up and to carry out. My old bags didn’t have handles so it was a pain to tie it up when it got more full. At under a dollar per bag at this moment, I would say it’s not the most expensive nor cheapest out there, but they are still more expensive than my old ones. However, they’re good quality and pretty sizable so I can let it slide. I appreciate the quality of life for the drawstrings quite a bit so I recommend these.

  17. Simran Bagga

Great Compost Bags. I absolutely hate small trash cans. I have a firm believer that your main trash can should be able to hold a full size garbage bag. Make your life easier and put small trash cans around the house and have one big trash can. When it’s time to throw away the trash take the big big and stick the smaller trash bags inside the big one and throw all of it out at once. These trash bags fit my build perfectly if it in my big garbage can and they’re durable. The best part is it durability, you can literally stick anything inside these garbage bags and they will refuse to rip. The drawstrings are also a nice touch. The only thing I’d be mindful of is the price. You are paying $20 for 24 and it may be cheaper to purchase garbage bags from somewhere else. However the key part about these bags is that they are compostable. If you are doing big yard work and you need a lot of bags this might be for you. Overall I would recommend these bags for people who already recycle and have compostable material in their garbage bins.

  18. The Running Chemist

Costly but Has Premium Features. These all purpose trash bags have been excellent. At $20 for 24 bags, they’re rather expensive but their premium features make it worthwhile depending on if your use cases have heavy loads:

The bags have good tensile strength so they’re unlikely to break apart – the thickness is slightly higher than typical trash bags. Likewise, the puncture-resistance also seems strong. The best part is their drawstring handles to ensure there’s no spillage; I like to fit as much as possible before disposal and would always get some stuff falling out with normal bags.

I also found them to handle lots of clothing well. Our household recently donated a lot of clothes and carrying them in these bags made it much easier to transport.

They’re also compostable, which is a contributing factor in their premium cost, however, they’ll be great for gardening aficionados like my household.

  19. Suburblicious

  20. Cecilia

Compost friendly is a great fe STRONG COMPOST BAGS….These are definitely strong composite bags, for me they are suited to my outdoor recyclable waste. I would have loved to use them for kitchen waste but they are to big for my containers and by the time I filled a bag they would be awfully smelly. They are great for composting for my needs.
They worked really well for my outdoor leaves, branches etc. I was very surprised that the branches did not poke holes thru the plastic . My rose bushes are quite prickly and tend to shred anything they come in contact with but these bags worked really well.
So strong and durable they are, you just need to find the right application for your needs. I hope this helps.

  21. Butterfly

Good Compost Safe Garbage Bag. The Refresh Packaging All Purpose Trash Bags are of good quality and serve their purpose well. They are 100% certified compost safe, making them an excellent choice for those who are environmentally conscious. These bags are suitable for both kitchen and yard waste, and with a capacity of 49L/13 gallons, they can hold a substantial amount of waste before needing to be replaced.

These bags have the drawstring handles, which make them easy to tie and carry. It is a practical feature that adds to the overall user experience. Each box comes with 12 bags, providing a decent supply that should last a while depending on usage.

However, it’s worth noting that the packaging box is glued on both sides. This makes it less straightforward to open compared to a typical box. While this is a minor inconvenience, it’s something potential buyers might want to be aware of. On the bright side, the glued sides ensure that the bags do not slide out during transportation, which is a thoughtful detail.

  22. Joelene

Perfect for when I need a larger bag. Great quality. I normally use the smaller compost bags, but sometimes a larger one is necessary. Whenever I do a thorough cleaning of my pantry fridge/freezers, I confess, there is quite a bit of food waste in terms of expired items/freezer burnt items, etc.

These large bags work really well for that task, as I only need to use one bag, and the large opening makes it really easy to fill. The drawstring handles are a nice bonus! Aside from kitchen scraps, these bags are also useful for extra yard/garden waste.

The bags are exactly like the high quality ones I get from the big warehouse store, just larger. They’re quite durable, but as with any bag, there will be a maximum weight they can support before tearing. I haven’t had one tear yet, but I’m careful to not place too much weight in them.

To sum up, I find these bags are excellent quality, and very useful for those occasions when you need a larger bag.

  23. Jillian D.

Really well-made, love the handles. I will say foremost to be aware of the sizing of these bags when purchasing – if you are generally using a small atop-counter kitchen catcher for your compost, then these will be way too huge. If your catcher is a bit deeper (I would equate these to a “small” size trash bag you’d buy in a store) then they work wonderfully.

I’ve found myself using these religiously for backyard pet waste (compostable in my locality!) and I bring them out when it’s time to make a big batch of stew, marinara sauce, or jambalaya – meals that leave a lot of peels and vegetable bits work wonders with the size of this bag. It holds strong and keeps in moisture and keeps my countertop dry, and the handles make tying and carting easy.

I would absolutely recommend these to people who hike and camp and need to deal with food waste without worries about spills, smells, or leaks.

  24. Iohn Born

Decent thickness with handy drawstrings. These are compostable garbage bags that are decently thick and sturdy and feature handy drawstrings to close them once full. I’ve just started using them so I can’t tell how well they hold but at first glance, they seem quite good.

  25. Sam

These compost bags are great for the kitchen! They are perfect for compost and do not easily rip or break apart. They have drawstrings, which make them easier to carry and hold, but they are also safe for the environment as they decompose after a few days of being exposed to warmth. They hold all the cuttings I need, and they work very well. They are easy to hold and use, and I have had no issues with using them. Overall, they are very good products!

  26. Amazon.com Customer Review

Serious about the planet. These fit my kitchen trash can no problem. They say these completely decompose in fifty days. They are pretty thick and strong so I don’t know. Although I have experienced where biodegradable bags begin to break down if they are filled but not disposed of soon. These are definitely eco friendly. The color is a deep green with print on them just like in the pictures. A drawstring is a plus. Good, responsible product.

  27. Brandon Carter

Works well but I wouldn’t over pack them. Great bags! They fit tall kitchen trash bags perfectly. I was a little thrown off by how thin they were at first, but stronger than they look. I wouldn’t over pack them like you can a force flex bag, I’m pretty sure it would rip. The material is different, feels more like vinyl than plastic. The green is also nice, give it a different look from the usual white or black.

  28. NK

Great Size. These bags are pretty sturdy in comparison to other compostable bags I’ve used. The size fits my 13gal trashcan well and the handles are very useful. The bag keeps odors inside which I appreciate, especially when composting. Overall these worked well and the handles are great.

  29. PJ

Good large 13 gallon bags. These Refresh Packaging All Purpose Kitchen Trash Bags came as a package of two boxes with each box containing twelve bags. The bags are thick and pretty strong. I like the draw string closure that these have. They do fit in my kitchen waste can that I use for recycling. These do seem a little pricey to me though, but they are good bags.

  30. Savvy Consumer

Thick and strong. These are great trash bags. Not only do they hold everything we put into them in our 13-gallon kitchen trash can, but they’re strong. Knowing they’ll compost is terrific. We also like the color, as most trash cans will show a hint of the bag color in them, so the dark green shows up much less than white trash bags. That being said, these are currently very high priced and imported from afar, so not sure of the overall net benefit. I think we may reserve them for items going into our compost pile.

  31. Peachcat

These are very nice bags. These trash bags fit my trash can nicely the strings are strong. They have a decent thickness to them. They have a compostability or a decomposing rate I guess that’s suited more for a better environment. They are fairly good in my opinion they hold up to my regular household garbage and they perform as well as expected.

  32. AYU B.

Soft but durable. The texture is nothing like regular grocery store’s bags. These bags don’t make the hard plasticky noise. Very soft and smooth texture but durable. Cute color too.

  33. Shopaholic

I’m pleased with these bags. They’re sturdier than I expected. The drawstring handles make them easy to tie up and throw out. They’re 100% certified compostable. I’ve been using them for both kitchen waste and yard clippings, and they hold up well. The 13-gallon size is a perfect fit for my kitchen garbage can. Made in China.

  34. Cat

Thick and sturdy and good for large cans. These bags are thick and are suitable for most trash, not just compostables, though it’s a big plus that these are compostable. They are a bit expensive but are made of a special material that allows them to readily biodegrade. Recommend these for most uses but would maybe want to keep them out of the rain if possible to avoid the bags weakening before they need to.

  35. Dani

Nice kitchen bags. These are nice trash bags. They fit my kitchen trash can really well. They feel a little thinner than my normal trash bags but I like that they’re compostable and hopefully better for the environment. Made in China.

  36. Esquire

Good size bags. These are good size, sturdy bags.
I especially like that they are compostable.
I am very happy with these, and I hope they help me contribute to our environment.

  37. Gina

Perfect for my city’s new composting program. The city I live in just recently introduced green bins where we’re meant to dispose of food waste. However, if the animals don’t get into it, you’ll be lucky if the contents don’t freeze to the side of the bin. These bags are saving my life right now because I can just put one in the bin, fill it up, and not worry about frozen food or animals. These bags hold a lot too, which is perfect for us. Great quality bags to help clean up our environment!

  38. Miss Nomer

Eco-friendly solution for waste. In an era where sustainability is at the forefront of consumer consciousness, finding eco-friendly alternatives for everyday products is essential. These trash bags not only serve their primary purpose of containing trash effectively but also carry the added benefit of being environmentally responsible. Made from biodegradable materials, they offer a better alternative to regular trash bags for households striving to minimize their ecological footprint.

Despite being biodegradable, these trash bags are very durable, minimizing the risk of leaks or messes. The 13-gallon size is perfectly tailored for standard kitchen trash bins, providing ample capacity to accommodate daily waste generation in most households. The convenient drawstring closure simplifies tying off the bag for disposal, offering convenience without sacrificing functionality.

Overall, I really like these bags and would definitely recommend.

  39. louise

Sturdy trash bags. These trash bags are high quality, but are a bit pricey. This comes in a 2 pack which is helpful, but the value isn’t comparable to name brands.

  40. Helpful Heart

Fill it up, but don’t pack it too tight. The material these bags are made of are different than plastic and so is the stretch. When packed too full theses bags don’t stretch well and tend to tear where pulled too tight. The concept is excellent and so are the bags. Top performance every time when used within capacity.

  41. TS

Nice bags but a bit pricy. These are actually larger than my regular kitchen trash bags. They do a nice job but they aren’t very thick and not puncture proof. They do a good job with kitchen trash though and the draw string works well. The price is a little steep for something you throw away, but the do the job.

  42. Leah

Quality Compostable Trash Bags. These bags are great quality compostable trash bags. They are the same size as a typical kitchen trash bag. The texture of these bags is softer, but the bags hold up well. The bags are green. These bags are a great option for those who wish to use compostable bags.

  43. Leah S.

I have mixed feelings about these compostable garbage bags by Refresh. I do love that they are compostable, but they aren’t very durable. I’ve used compostable trash bags that have the sturdiness comparable to other plastic trash bags, but these are very thin, and it doesn’t take much to poke through them. These wouldn’t hold my kitchen garbage, I can see the leaks trailing across the floor now. They will be ok for laundry room and craft room garbage. I won’t order these again.

  44. BTV

Decent, but maybe not worth the price. They seem a little thin, but hold up well enough. The drawstring is nice and it fits well in my standard kitchen garbage. I like the color and that it has the information printed on the bag about being compostable. They’re pretty expensive though. Not sure it’s worth the price for a long term solution.

  45. Amazon Customer

Good compost bag. For those living in cities that have a green bin program for compostable food waste, you’ll know what these bags are for. Most importantly, these bags seem durable and not prone to ripping. Another nice feature is the drawstring handles. This makes it much easier to close the bag than trying to tie the “corners” (especially if you’re the type to fill these to their maximum capacity). Overall, they do their job well.

  46. Spider

Decent Bags at a Price. Thees bags feel different than plastic bags but so far have been durable enough for our kitchen trash. I like the drawstring type and these work OK. My only problem is the price. I love they are not plastic and will breakdown over time but this comes at a price.

  47. Kat

Eco friendly trash bags. These trash bags are a beautiful green color unlike any others I’ve seen before. The first bag I used the drawstring broke and I thought thr product was inferior, but the rest have been normal so that must have just been a mistake like can happen with anything. The material does feel soft and thin but I haven’t had any leaks or rips yet and I’ve used about 5 so far.
Overall I’m happy with these and I’d order them again!

  48. Earthling1984

Great Garbage Bags Good For The Planet. Being Compost Safe is a big plus. And you don’t have to compromise. These bags are still strong, haven’t had one leak on me or break on me. And the drawstring works great too. Great bags.

  49. The Black Raven

Doing our planet a favor. I’m all about earth friendly options, and these bags are just that, earth friendly! I’d rather spend a little more on compostable bags for the sake of our planet than I would on plastic bags that are creating a problem. These compostable bags are quite durable and fit my trash can perfectly. They are made of corn based materials that break down over time. So far, they have been holding up quite well, nor have I spotted any tearing or leaking with them. The drawstring feature makes for conveniently closing the trash when finished with it. The only improvement I could see with them is the option of an economy size box. I go through a bag every 3 days, so this 2 pack of 12 bags won’t last me long. Aside from that, these bags are excellent in quality and performance!

  50. Happy Mom

High-quality trash bags. These All Purpose trash bags are high quality and have worked perfectly for my needs. The bags are durable so you don’t need to worry about them breaking. There is a drawstring to close the bag up nicely after use which does a good job of keeping the garbage items from falling out. I like that the bags are 100% compostable. Overall, I am very happy with these bags.

  51. Wirehedd

Good value for your kitchen. Standard and easy to use bags that fit well and hold a good amount.

The one limitation is in if the bag is punctured by a sharp item it can tear from that point which can be a big problem if the bag splits on the bottom.

In most cases these are great for your kitchen and great value.

Just be careful when removing from can when full.

Thin but strong. These bags are perfect Size for a small can and I love that they have a draw string to easily tie up the bag. The bag is a bit on the thin side but it’s great for the planet which makes me happy.

Strong. These trash bags are excellent. They effectively hold everything in our 13-gallon kitchen trash can and are impressively sturdy. Their composting capability is a great feature, and we appreciate the dark green color, which minimizes visibility in the trash can. However, the current high price and distant importation raise questions about their overall benefit, so we might opt to use them specifically for compostable items.

Good enough. Bags are strong enough although I wouldn’t compact and overfill them as they do stretch some but not as much as some major brands.

These are definitely strong composite bags, for me they are suited to my outdoor recyclable waste.
